Myth Perceptions: Deconstructing Stereotypes, Myths, and Untruths about Indigenous Peoples

Myth Perceptions is a website created by the Mennonite Central Committee of Canada’s Indigenous Work Program, which seeks to repair relationships between Indigenous and non-Indigenous peoples and communities of Canada through dialogue, advocacy and community building support initiatives.

The goal of the initiative is to change the views of mainstream society in what is now known as North America, by disproving myths and clearing up misconceptions that are often believed to be true about Indigenous peoples. It also strives to provide an opportunity for issues that are prevalent amongst Indigenous populations to be explored more deeply by non-Indigenous peoples. The website consists of links to videos, articles, and resources which debunk common myths and stereotypes that non-Indigenous Canadians typically hold to be true. The site also contains links to many external resources, including different initiatives, allowing those who visit the site to further their education or take actions.
