Vancouver Island University’s Centre for Pre-Confederation Treaties and Reconciliation

In 2014, the Vancouver Island University (VIU) established a Centre for Pre-Confederation Treaties and Reconciliation in Nanaimo, British Columbia. The goal of the centre is to advance research, education, and public understanding and dialogue on Pre-Confederation Treaties from across Canada, as a way of contributing to the national challenge of reconciliation. Through this increase in Treaty education, research and awareness, the VIU administration sees this as the university’s contribution to the process of reconciliation.
