Christian Peacemakers Team Aboriginal Justice Delegations

The Christian Peacemakers Team “places violence-reduction teams in crisis situations and militarized areas around the world at the invitation of local peace and human rights workers.”  They have had an emphasis on solidarity with Indigenous peoples since 1999. They have sent many delegations to support Indigenous land defenders.

CPT (Christian Peacemakers Team) hosted three Aboriginal Justice Delegations during 2016 to Treaty 3. These delegations provided an opportunity for Christian Peacemaker members to come together to find out what it means to be an ally to indigenous communities engaged in healing, resisting colonialism and struggling for sovereignty.  Each delegation explored what it means to live in right relationship with the earth and each other. Delegates needed to undertake an analysis of colonialism, participate in undoing racism trainings, and learn about being allies in order to address the problems of structured violence through nonviolent actions.
