Sovereignties and Colonialisms: Resisting Racism, Extraction and Dispossession

Sovereignties and Colonialisms: Resisting Racism, Extraction and Dispossession was a conference organized by the Critical Ethnic Studies Association at York University in Toronto from April 30th to May 3rd, 2015. This is the third major conference the CESA has put on and it built on previous themes of decolonization, settler colonialism, colonial racial formations and white supremacy as well as resistance and oppression transnationally. The work, scholarship and activism from Indigenous, Black, and people of colour especially work coming from feminist, trans, Two-Spirit, queer, and disability struggles and perspectives was central to the weekend. The conference was comprised of workshops, lectures and focus groups.
